Double the space: GO! Prague at a new location

Bonn, 6 July 2017. At the beginning of April the time had come: the Czech GO! headquarters moved into its new facility at the logistics area in Hositvice – on the western border of Prague. With its close proximity to the D 5 and D 6 motorways as well as the Prague ring road, the new location offers optimal transport connections for both domestic and international shipment processing.

Some 370 square metres of modern office space and almost 1,000 square metres of warehouse and hall capacity – twice as much as at the old location – provide ample room for the ongoing network expansion in the Czech Republic, which constitutes an important component of the company’s globalisation.

The move had become necessary as shipment volumes had risen steadily in recent years and the capacity limits of the old location had been reached. In particular, the rise in deliveries for online retail, which GO! Czech Republic is increasingly taking on, accounts for the growth.

Last year the route was expanded to reach Brno so that in addition to the Prague and Pilsen stations, the metropolitan areas of Olomouc, Ostrava, Hradec Králové, Pardubice and České Budějovice are now also served by the GO! network with a one-day transit time.

The Czech Republic has been a partner of the GO! system since 2002. With the larger facility, the shipping and logistics service provider’s presence in central Europe will be strengthened and the expansion of the same-day-delivery area further advanced.

Gold medallist Sebastian Brendel supports the national initiative ‘Wir stärken Kinder’

Potsdam, 14 October. Last Saturday Sebastian Brendel, winner of double gold at the Olympic Games in Rio, ran a very special training camp for 13 children from the SOS Children’s Village Brandenburg. For one day, the top athlete assumed the role of trainer, and initiated the youngsters in the techniques of canoeing. The boys and girls aged between nine and 13 quickly learned to control the narrow sports boats – so much so that they were able to compete against each other at the end of the day. The children all received T-shirts as prizes, and Sebastian Brendel also signed autographs for them all on the day.

The invitations to the day were issued by the Kanu Club Potsdam as part of the initiative Wir stärken Kinder. SOS-Kinderdorf e.V. and the digital channel launched the national initiative in order to give children from every German SOS Children’s Village the opportunity to get some exercise with former and active top athletes. The aim of the initiative is to make children strong for their future and to open up opportunities for them. A task that this canoeist is all in favour of: ‘I want children to be enthusiastic about sport because it enables them to experience things that are important for their individual development,’ he explained.

‘It’s terrific that KC Potsdam is supporting this initiative with Sebastian. And it’s great to see how sport ambassadors are able to use their success and experience to get children excited about sport. Our warmest thanks for the immediate agreement to be involved in this wonderful campaign,’ said Wolfgang Sacher, CEO of the GO! Gruppe Berlin / Brandenburg. GO! has been sponsoring KC Potsdam and Sebastian Brendel for nine years. Sebastian is also planning to compete for Germany in Tokyo.

Berlin, 26 July 2016. We will beat leukaemia – that is the long-term goal of DKMS. The GO! Berlin, Potsdam and Schwerin locations are now doing their bit with 26 newly registered donors. In order to advise employees and couriers about the registration campaign and to find as many potential lifesavers as possible, management personally wrote to staff via a flyer. And it was worth it: in line with the motto ‘Open your mouth, take a swab, become a donor’, numerous GO! employees took part in the company campaign to help save a life in the future as a stem cell donor. In four groups, employees took a cheek swab sample themselves using the registration sets from DKMS. The swabs were then sent by GO! to a lab to be quickly logged in the donor register. Last Friday, 15 July, to round off the campaign, Wienke Keil handed over a donation cheque for €1,040 to Maria Matuschak, campaign manager for the DKMS office in Berlin, on behalf of the GO! KEP 2015 study: the volume of shipments is steadily growing

Berlin, July 2015.The German federation of parcel and express logistics – BIEK e.V. – has published its annual study on the current state of the courier, express and parcel sectors. The study, entitled KEP-Studie 2015 – Analyse des Marktes in Deutschland, underlines the growing significance of these sectors for the economy and society. According to the study, the courier, express and parcel markets are faring better than other economic sectors. Additionally, the rates of value creation in the courier, express and parcel sectors are growing faster than the logistics market as a whole. This is the result of economic growth in Germany and the improving economic situation in Europe. This year, businesses in the courier, express and parcel sectors expect 4.5% more shipments than in the previous year, including a 2.2% increase in the B2B segment. In particular, the proportion of international parcel shipments on the European market has remained in the double-digit range. This trend is being driven primarily by the increase in international online shopping. So as to best meet the requirements, businesses in the courier, express and parcel sectors are employing more than 200,000 people, making them a significant driver for the German economy. Transport and logistics services are becoming more and more important to the national economy. As a result, the courier, express and parcel delivery market has been growing twice as quickly as the overall economy since the start of the millennium. In summary, the KEP 2015 study is heralding positive developments and promising impetus for the future. GO! Express & Logistics is a longstanding member of BIEK e.V. and contributes its expertise to help the federation’s work.
